SHOOTERS

                               EXTRA PRACTICE DAYS

DO YOU WANT TO IMPROVE YOU SHOOTING TECHNIQUES

The NLMCTC will be trialing an extra Practice session on the

3rd Saturday of the month to see if there is enough support from

both members and visiting shooters to make it a more permanent

event.  This is a great chance for those shooters who have trouble

getting to the club on a Wednesday afternoon for a practice.

John Paul will be coordinating the Practice sessions and it is important

that you contact him a couple of days prior to the Saturday to register

your interest and to ensure that it is still on.  Practice will start at

9.30am so if you would like to take advantage of these extra Practice

opportunities then please contact:-

          JOHN  PAUL  ………… 0249-426081

And don’t forget … Practice, Practice, Practice…

P.S.   With Spring just around the corner, bringing with it beautiful

warm weather why not bring the family with you and make use of

the clubs BBQ facilities and enjoy  lunch in the natural bushland

setting of the clubs grounds.

                       Arr come on down Queensland.

YOU MUST SHOW YOUR FIREARMS LICENCE.

***  NO SHOW NO SHOOT ***

Amendment to Club Approvals by additional

       conditions requiring licence checks.

From the Firearms Registry  25th July 2005.

Quote:  Club officials must check that members/visitors

possess a current firearms licence EVERY time they

participate in club activities,  The club official must view

the firearms licence expiry date and ensure the category of

firearm and relevant genuine reason on the rear of the

licence matches the respective club activity.  The  ONLY

exception is where a temporary exemption has been granted

authorising a new club member to handle firearms under

supervision. Section 68 of the Firearms Act 1996 confirms

a licence or permit must be produced on demand by a police

officer. Club officials have reported to the Firearms Registry

of  being confronted by members/visitors suggesting Section

68 confirms a police officer ONLY can demand to view a

firearms licence. This is not correct. Club officials must

conduct this physical check EVERY time prior to allowing

the person to participate in club activities that involves

the handling of a firearm.

As a delegate of the NSW Police Commissioner, the

Manager Services ao the NSW Firearms Registry, under

Clause 80(1)©, (4)(b) & (5) of the NSW Firearms

(General) Regulations 1997, requires such physical licence

inspections as a condition of your club’s approval.

The club is obliged to refuse participation by any person

who is unable to produce a current firearms licence for

the category of firearm and relevant genuine reason.

The practice by the Firearms Registry of notifying clubs

when a member’s licence is suspended or revoked will

continue. However the club should not rely solely upon

this notification and must conduct the above physical

check without exception.  “ End Quote.

On the 3rd of July 2004, George Foster was awarded Life Membership to the Newcastle Lake Macquarie Clay Target Club, in recognition of the contribution he has made to the club and to the sport. George fired his first shot on his 7th birthday and was hooked, it began a life-long love of shooting. George began competitive shotgun shooting about the same time he joined the Newcastle club back in 1967. He has shot Skeet, DTL and Trench competitively.

George won his first championship, a single barrel event, at Dungog in 1969, then went on to make the State Skeet Team in 1971, the Veterans State Trap Team in 2000 and has many other memorable wins under his belt.

Perazzi is his preferred brand of gun and he likes loading his own ammunition.

He is supported endlessly by his lovely wife Shirley.

Congratulations George.
